About The Rising Sun, Halls Green
The Rising Sun at Halls Green is a traditional country pub surrounded by beautiful North Hertfordshire countryside in the small Hamlet of Halls Green, the Rising Sun offers a warm and friendly welcome and boasts a cosy and inviting real log fire popular with all our visitors, including ramblers, cyclists and horse-riders alike. The original building still maintains it's 'old world' charm with its beamed ceiling and brasses.
There is a stunning beer garden complete with a beautiful and well established willow tree and the children's play area making it the perfect location for families seeking a relaxing time in an old fashioned country pub. Dogs are very welcome both inside and out, all we ask is that they are kept on leads and outside of the conservatory restaurant. Water and treats are always on hand.
The Rising Sun is a former 18th century cottage which was once owned by the Dimsdale family - Baron Dimsdale received his title and wealth from Catherine the Great as a reward for inoculating her and the Grand Duke, her son against smallpox. The cottage then became a Baker Brewery before becoming a McMullen's pub in 1904.
We are very proud of our menu which consists of excellent traditional home-cooked food, together with a fine selection of well kept locally brewed real ales Country and Guest Ale, together with a wide choice of wines, spirits, bottled and draft lagers, ciders and soft drinks.
The pub is proud to serve McMullen Ale. This local Brewer is located in Hertford and have been brewing for over one hundred years and is still run as a family business.
The Rising Sun is independently managed by Nigel & Natalie who took over the tenancy in September 2012 together with their four children who, over the years, have all played a part in the running of the pub, making it a real family run establishment.
Nigel, Natalie and team look forward to providing you with a warm and friendly welcome and excellent food in the very near future.
